Fry Club Colts U13 (1) v Bradley Stoke U13(2)

December 11, 2005

It seemed an age since the boys played a competitive match what with the

disappointment of going out of the cup and games being cancelled due to bad weather.

Fry’s won the toss and opted to kick off. Straight from the whistle they put the pressure on Bradley Stoke especially when Tom Hooper crossed in a great ball which Justin Skinner connected with but was unlucky to see it go just over the bar. Ryan Ellett saw his shot fire into the side netting in the 10th minute.

The 14th minute brought a goal to the scoreboard when Ryan Ellett and Harry Pople played some good link play with sharp passing and put Dan Buley through

who subsequently fired past the Bradley Stoke keeper.

Fry’s defence of Stone, Hopper, Sheehan and Jefferie’s were showing their strength each time Bradley Stoke tried to bring the score back level with Sheehan making an excellent clearance from a corner.

Fry’s kept trying to bag their second but were so unlucky, and even hit the bar 4

times. (Must check the height of the posts as I’m sure the bar was 6 inches too low !!).

Despite all the Fry’s effort and determination, Bradley Stoke got their equaliser in the 24th minute when their striker latched on to an excellent through ball to score and make it 1-1.

2nd half saw the introduction of Jack Baber out on the left.

Fry’s came close again in the 46th minute but again fired the ball too high and over the bar.

Bradley Stoke started to come strong and the game was becoming quite a close contest.

Dan Buley struck again in the 60th minute but the goal was disallowed as the ball had just gone out before it was cut back to him.

We should have gone ahead again with about 5 minutes to go when Harry Pople surged through the Bradley defence but put the ball wide past the far post.

2 minutes into added on time, and the Bradley Stoke striker went on a strong run up the left of midfield and fired a shot clean through the legs of Tom Rose into the Fry’s net. Fry’s felt hard done by that it was allowed to stand as it was felt there was a clear foul on Dan Stone during the build up.

Final whistle sounded not long after bringing a defeat, which was no way deserved. After the hard work that the boy’s had put in. Still, off to Brislington next week so let’s get those heads up and prove yourselves as winners.
